Getting started
What is Lift Assisted?
Lift Assisted fixes your Strava activities that have been flagged for containing uplifts (e.g., vehicle shuttles, chairlifts, gondolas). We pause your GPS recording during the uplift and re-upload a clean activity to Strava — so your stats reflect only what you actually pedalled. Your original activity stays untouched.
How do I get started?
Click 'Get started' and sign in with Strava. We'll request access to your activities. Once connected, Lift Assisted finds your flagged rides and you can fix them with one tap.
Do I need a Strava account?
Yes. Lift Assisted works with your Strava activities — you need a free Strava account with activity recording (GPS tracks). A Strava subscription is not required.
Which devices are supported?
Any device that can record GPS tracks and sync to Strava — including Garmin, Wahoo, Apple Watch, and smartphone apps. As long as your ride ends up on Strava, Lift Assisted can fix it.
Is there an app?
Yes — the Lift Assisted app is available on the Play Store for Android. You can also use the web app. An iOS app is not available yet.
Pricing & subscriptions
Is there a free tier?
Yes. The free tier lets you see which rides contain uplifts, uses smart auto-detection, lets you fix 1 ride per month, and covers your last 100 days of activities. It's free forever — no credit card required.
What does Pro include?
Pro ($19.99/year) includes everything in Free, plus: unlimited processing (fix as many rides as you want), automatic processing (new rides are fixed without opening the app), full history access (fix rides from any point in your Strava history), and history cleanup (fix all your past flagged rides in one go).
How do I cancel my subscription?
Sign in to your account at accounts.blackramlabs.com, go to Subscriptions, and click 'Manage'. You'll be redirected to the Stripe Customer Portal where you can cancel or update your payment method. Your Pro access continues until the end of your billing period.
Can I get a refund?
If you're not satisfied, contact liftassisted@blackramlabs.com for a refund. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period.
Data & privacy
What data do you collect?
We store your Strava athlete ID, display name, and email (if you create an account). We process your activity data to detect uplifts and pause the recording during them, but we don't store raw GPS tracks — those stay on Strava. Your account is managed by Black Ram Labs Accounts and can be used across all BRL apps.
Do you sell my data?
No. We never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account from the Lift Assisted app or by contacting liftassisted@blackramlabs.com. We anonymize all personal data and delete your account. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Where can I read your Privacy Policy and Terms?
Our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service are hosted on the Black Ram Labs corporate site — the same place as our other apps. See the links in the footer.
Technical
How does uplift detection work?
Our algorithm analyses your activity's elevation profile, speed, and location data to identify uplifts — sections where you gain elevation without pedalling (e.g., vehicle shuttles). Detection runs automatically when activities are loaded.
Does it work with e-bikes?
Yes. Lift Assisted works with e-bike activities. The uplift detection algorithm accounts for motor-assisted climbing and can distinguish between pedalling uphill and uplift-assisted elevation gain.
What if an uplift is detected incorrectly?
Detection isn't perfect. If you see a false positive or missed uplift, you can report it from the app. Importantly, we always leave your existing Strava activity untouched — the processed activity is a new upload, so you can revert back to the original or delete the processed one at any time.
How often are new activities processed?
Free users can manually trigger processing from the app. Pro users get hands-off automatic processing — new activities are processed in the background without opening the app.
